Sonya Bogdanova (b. 1991, Moscow), is a Chicago-based artist and activist. She is an MFA Candidate in Studio Arts (2021) at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and has a BFA from the School of the Art Institute in 2012. She examines pernicious ways in which Americans maintain white supremacy, currently interrogating the symbiosis of racism and classism in housing. Bogdanova is influenced by Francis Bacon, Adriana Varejao, Fred Hampton, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin and bell hooks in her approach. She most recently exhibited work at the Fulton Street Collective (Chicago), Co-Prosperity Sphere (Chicago), and YorkExplore (York, UK).
