Ashley Dequilla is multi-hyphenate artist and activist born to Filipino immigrants who uses painting, performance, moving image, installation and ritual in her practice. Her work responds to the call of action against the deep injustices of our time, stemming from personal traumatic experiences, outwards toward the urgency for collective healing. Ashley graduated from the College of William and Mary with a BFA in Studio Art and Art History and holds a Post-Baccalaureate certificate in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She is the 2021 recipient of the Pinay Risings scholarship for art and activism. She also works as an artist facilitator and propagandist for various non profit organizations that support sexual assault and domestic violence survivors as well as human rights in the Philippines.
