Tampa - QUAID is pleased to present "If Not Whatever, Why Now?", a solo exhibition by Timothy McMillan featuring an assembled monument of dioramas constructed out of used furniture and handcrafted figurines. Within the structure, anthropomorphic and humanoid figures participate in absurd narratives which draw inspiration from folklore, mythology, and McMillan’s personal experiences. Join QUAID for the opening reception of “If Not Whatever, Why Now?” May 17th at 7pm.
The event is free and open to the public but donations are greatly appreciated. Classes and groups are encouraged and welcomed. This exhibition will run from May 17th, through June 7th. The gallery is open Thursday 7PM-10PM, Friday through Sunday 12PM-5PM, and by appointment.
Located at 4636 N. Florida Ave in South Seminole Heights, QUAID is an artist-run project space in partnership with TEMPUS PROJECTS. The artists who run QUAID are members of the Tampa Drawers Sketch Gang. Since March of 2013 this group of eight Tampa artists has met weekly to collaborate and draw. The Tampa Drawers Sketch Gang will be organizing exhibitions at QUAID throughout 2014, including solo exhibitions of all its members and various other group shows and projects throughout the year.
