The graduate program in Museum and Exhibition Studies (MUSE) is thrilled to announce that Dr. Maria Eugenia López-Garcia will be joining the MUSE faculty as an assistant professor in the 2022/23 academic year!
Dr. López-Garcia came to UIC as part of the inaugural cohort of Bridge to the Faculty Postdoctoral Scholars. Prior to joining MUSE, Dr. López-Garcia completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Latina/Latino Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She earned her PhD in American Studies from the University of New Mexico. Dr. López-Garcia's research examines contemporary processes of racialization of migrant and immigrant Mexican and Filipina domestic workers in the United States, and the response to such processes encoded in the cultural production and alternative epistemologies that their lives and labor inspire.
Please join us in celebrating Dr. López-Garcia's new role at UIC and be sure to attend the next public presentation of her research on March 9, 2022!
