Fall 2020 Graduate College Award Recipients Announced

Congratulations to all the recipients of the three autumnal competitions from the UIC Graduate College! These awards seek to provide funding, reward outstanding scholarship, and provide ways for students to develop new research directions for their PhD dissertations or terminal degree thesis/capstone project.

Outstanding Thesis/Dissertation Award

• Simon Hinman Wan (Art History PhD alumnus) for his dissertation entitled “Intertwined Genealogies: Dutch, Chinese, and Colonial Indonesian Architecture of Philanthropy, 1640-1740.”
• Mariela Espinoza-León (Art History, MA alumna) for her thesis entitled “‘Corazón de Lumbre, Alma de Nieve’: Constructing the Sentiment of Nationalism through La Leyenda de Los Volcanes.”
