Alyssa Greenberg (AH PhD) will present her paper,“Arts Awareness at the Metropolitan Museum of Art: Art Museum Education as Artistic and Political Practice”, at the College Art Association's 104th Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. this February.
Greenberg will contribute her insights to "The Institutionalization of Social Practice," a session that considers the practical implications of curating “socially valuable” art in galleries and museums, reflects on the critical issue of competitive arts funding and market pressures, and interrogates the contradictions attached to the institutionalization of social art practice. Moderated by Charlotte Bonham-Carter and Nicola Mann of Richmond University in London, panelists will discuss what happens when social practice becomes spectacular.
