Author Bernie Williams raves that UIC's school of Art & Art History is: "home to one of the most exquisite contemporary art galleries in the city." Williams goes on to discuss how important Gallery 400 is to the UIC community, because it functions as a nontraditional learning environment.

Gallery 400 exhibits works that confront an array of topics historically and contemporarily minded, while providing internship opportunities to students, and hosting events from film screenings to artists talks, students exhibitions to artist in residence exhibitions.
