Jesse Malmed (MFA '14) has been selected as an Artistic Associate for Links Hall 2014. Malmed will be curating TV Party. TV Party is part of an ongoing exploration of artist television in the expanded field. TV Party asks artists-performers, writers, moving image makers-to produce and reproduce television for a live audience. The festival will run for seven consecutive days, with each day functioning within a similar three hour format but with different programming to mirror a typical broadcast schedule.
Links Hall Artistic Associates (AAs) are selected annually by a selection panel selected by Links Hall's Programming Co-Chairs Roberto Sifuentes (La Pocha Nostra & SAIC), Julia Mayer (Chicago Humanities Festival) and staff, each selected project is given a stipend to curate up to nine evenings of performances in the Links Hall studio.
The Links Hall Artistic Associates program was founded in the Spring 2005, three Artistic Associates were selected based on their expertise in their respective fields of performance to curate three month-long series. These programs enhanced the quality of our artistic programming at Links Hall, and generated significant new avenues for Links Hall to encourages artistic innovation as well as provide much needed financial support to the Chicago performance community. This program now takes place annually, and each year's past AAs participate on Links Hall's Programming Committee to select the subsequent year's Artistic Associates.
