Please join Gallery 400 for a discussion with curator Rachel Cook.
Rachel Cook is curator at Diverseworks, an artist-centered organization committed to presenting new and daring work without constraint. Through curation she explores the relationship between images and objects and investigates methods of delegation that are embedded in performative and participatory work. In addition to her curatorial work Cook also writes on art. Her articles have been published in a number of journals and catalogues including Modern Painter, Flash Art, and others. In spring 2015, Cook was granted a fellowship by the Andy Warhol Foundation to conduct curatorial research on Walker Evans’ photography of African sculpture. Cook received her Masters in Curatorial Studies at Bard College, NYC, and her Bachelors from San Francisco Art Institute. Most recently she is working on an exhibition about choreography, movement, and sound; these aspects are then considered in regard to the concept of time as activism.
The lecture will be held in Gallery 400 (400 S. Peoria St.) from 6-7:30pm.
