2:00–4:00pm
In this panel, graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Art History at the University of Illinois at Chicago will discuss their creative practices as emerging art historians. Their conversation will explore forms of poetic research and storytelling, the production of zines, the internet as a platform for publication, and the material practices of art history. The perspectives and practices of the panelists exemplify how art history can no longer be contained within a narrowly defined discipline. Their approaches not only generate new ways in which art history is studied, theorized, and written, they also demonstrate the importance of expanding the field of art history today.
Presenters include: Julie Herrmann (BA student), Deanna Ledezma (PhD candidate), Sean Loach (BA student), Chris Reeves (PhD candidate).
