Ted Kim translates his nomadic upbringing into an abstract language of material and colour, where shape, weight, and gravity can be both explored and redefined. From a narrative within a pictorial frame to site-specific installations, he discovers the traces of time in the everyday encounter and strives to decode the intricate nature of presence by examining the accumulated layers of physical remarks and psychological states. Exploring the anatomy of the identity of space uncovers what has remained and what has been removed in each layer of time. The dynamic of decisions and forces that created "now" reveals the homology among past, present, and future, leading to a larger discussion of their fragility and transformability. Kim graduated from University of the Arts London in 2016 and showed his works in Seoul, Shanghai and London, and Chicago.
